This fine art photograph features one of the remaining barns from the historic Sanford Stud Farm in Amsterdam, New York. Built in the late 1800s, these barns were part of a Thoroughbred operation founded by carpet manufacturer Stephen Sanford, whose doctor suggested farm life might restore his health. The Sanfords went on to race horses for over a century, and their name remains part of Saratoga’s legacy through the annual Sanford Stakes.
Photographed in the summer of 2014, the weathered boards of this barn glowed softly in the evening light — a quiet reminder of endurance, craft, and time.
